Bellahouston 2 INVAC 2
A match against bottom of the table Bellahouston should have been an easy 3 points for an Invac side vying
for places in the cup on May 3rd.
Invac started brightly and had Bella pinned in their own half in the opening stages.
They should have been in front when the keeper could only parry a shot into the air and when the ball came
back down under the bar the Bella defender nodded the ball straight back up under the bar. GOAL??? Well it should have
been, but the referee didnt see the ball go through a gap between net and bar and gave a corner kick. Major let off
for Bellahouston.
Invac managed to miss a hatful of chances with poor finishing the main problem.
Bella's only shot of note in the first half resulted in the opening goal. Walter Donnachie was outmuscled
at the edge of the area and the striker unleashed a thunderous drive into the top corner past Michael McCloy. 1-0 at half-time
against the run of play.
The 2nd half continued like the first with Invac having most of the ball. They got what they deserved
midway through the half when Craig MacLean glanced a header past the Bella keeper for the equaliser.
Invac weren't level very long though, Steg Kenny got the ball stuck under his feet at the edge of his own
box and was robbed by the Bella forward. With the forward charging into the box, Steg Kenny hacked him down from behind,
penalty!
One of the Bella Baldies picked his spot for 2-1.
This was a match that Invac dare not lose and manager Colin Westwater through Paul Hunter up from the back
and into attack in search of the equaliser with only minutes to spare. It paid dividends as he rose to nod home a corner
with 2 minutes left on the clock.
He had a chance to notch a winner a minute later but chose the wrong option. With Andy Westwater and
Craig Donnachie screaming for a square ball in the box he lashed high and wide as he went for glory. Game over 2-2.
MATCH SUMMARY
A really disappointing result for Invac who need to start picking up points soon or may find themselves
dragged into the relegation dogfight. With all due respect to Bellahouston, Invac should be knocking 5 past teams like
this.
